Per the foreword by the author, "This work has been created for two reasons: Partly because, to my knowledge, there has been no comprehensive atlas that looks at the world from the perspective of philately, but mostly because, like so many collectors, I have a curiosity about the places represented by those tiny paper fragments that we cherish...  "
