    Description

    This hand-painted football was sent to Bob James, Commissioner of the Atlantic Coast Conference ACC, to attend the 1979 Fiesta Bowl. Signed by the Board of Directors of the game, including a newspaper publisher and a department store magnate. I believe that 1979 was the first year that these were presented, and shortly after they were no longer hand-painted but printed.
    This is a great piece of Fiesta Bowl AND ACC history. Bob James was a key figure in the growth of the ACC in the 1970's and early 80's. He passed away in 1987.
    In the game, the Pitt Panthers defeated the Arizona Wildcats 16-10.
