    Description

Civil War soldier letter, James M Young, 115th New York, Hilton Head (SC) March 11 63, four 6x8 inch pages in ink to brother, have not received any pay since leaving Florida, asking brother to collect some notes he left with him, talks of letters received including one from Harrison Briggs of the 102nd regiment,  {data base says 10th)we are making arrangements for a band in the regiment, we have the players and need horns, nothing like music to charm a soldier's heart.
Talks of a watch that apparently either did not arrive in the mail or was broken, does not want it to be a bone of contention so will not say anything, apparently you did not want to carry in Florida, I am fat and happy and black as sambo, no evidence of disease, soldiering agrees with me tip top, it has been 7 months since I enlisted, talks of fruit trees in bloom, other great general content, well written easy to read.
