    Description

1930's Notre Dame Football Players Signed Notre Dame Administration Postcard.  Elmer Layden, one of the Four Horseman, Signed and also four other 1920's team members signed, Chet Grant, Bill Cerney, Joe Boland, and Joe Benda.
Cerney was widely called the 5th Horseman.  Boland was a guard on those early 20's teams and opened a lot of those running lanes. Grant was the back-up for Knute Rockne's in 1920 and quarterbacked the team to a 10-1 record in 1921.  Benda was a right end on those mid 20's teams.
All have signed in dark pencil and all strongly legible.   Some light staining on back of card.
Authenticated by JSA.  The LOA is incorrect as it states that Cerney's autograph is Bill Clancy which is incorrect.  Also says that it is 1934-40 coaching staff of Layden.  Partly true but not all of them were coaching assistants with Layden.
